Event 2018: Dutch Trade Mission from Life Sciences and Health Sector to Surabaya

As part of a cooperation with EIBN (EU-Indonesia Business Network), EKONID supported the Royal Netherlands Embassy with a trade mission from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Indonesia. The trade mission focused on the health sector and ran from 4th – 9th November 2018 in Surabaya and Jakarta. A total of 21 participants consisting of university representatives and business people visited Surabaya to learn about East Java┬┤s health sector and explore opportunities for cooperation with local counterparts.

During the visit of the delegation in Surabaya, EKONID together with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands held a series of events, including: expert tables, B2B matchmaking meetings and a networking dinner. After the opening words by the embassy and a short presentation by Dr. Kohar Hari Santoso, Dr., SoAn, M. KAP, KIC. – Head of East Java Provincial Health Office, regarding the latest trends and developments in Healthcare in East Java, the participants were divided into five groups discussing different topics, including: Tuberculosis & Primary Healthcare, Hospital Project Development, Digitalization, Academic Collaboration, and Elderly Care. For this activity Wisma Jerman had invited several experts who gave a short introduction to their respective topic and answered questions of the delegates from the Netherlands. After lunch, B2B matchmaking meetings were held. Twelve Indonesian companies and universities participated in the meetings and took the opportunity to discuss directly with the Dutch delegation participants.

In the evening, the delegation’s visit ended with a networking dinner event attended by representatives of local companies, universities, and associations. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands and Airlangga University Surabaya on student exchange, research, a mobility program and a scholarship for doctoral programs was also signed. The programs covered by the MoU aim to create equality between graduates of the two universities.
