OPEN HOUSE 2023 : MIT ERNEUERBARER ENERGIE, ENERGIEEFFIZIENZ UND DEUTSCH IN DIE ZUKUNFT
On Minggu, 13th Agustus 2023, Wisma Jerman invited the general public and friends of German language and culture to its annual Open House. This year’s edition was held under the theme “Mit Erneuerbarer Energie, Energieeffizienz und Deutsch in die Zukunft.”. The theme was chosen to underline the importance of reducing the use of fossil energy and switching to environmentally friendly energy. As one of the leading countries in renewable energy and energy efficiency development, Germany is a well-suited partner for Indonesia to jointly advance both countries for a more environmentally friendly and more efficient use of energy.
The main objective of the event was to introduce German culture, education, and economic cooperation to the wider community in Surabaya and its surrounding areas. During the event, attendees could participate in a variety of games and activities revolving around renewable energy, energy efficiency and German language. Among others there were quizzes and mini games, a climate change mini workshop, as well as presentations by our course participants who had created videos and posters prior to the event as part of an Open House competition. A small selection of typical German dishes, cakes, coffee, tea, and pizza from Pizza Hut complimented an overall fun experience for the guests with the Wisma Jerman team. Thus, as in previous years the Wisma Jerman Open House provided an exciting experience and created unforgettable moments for everyone.
Besides becoming active themselves, guests could enjoy a diverse entertainment program with several music acts including a spectacular performance by “Kawan Netra” band, acoustic music by one of Wisma Jerman’s students and a performance by vocal group “Aksi Cinta Indonesia” which performed two German songs titled “Das Heiligste der Welt” and “99 Luftballoons”, accompanied by Mike Neuber, the Director of Wisma Jerman and Fajar Nugroho, one of Wisma Jerman’s teachers.
As in previous years, our German trial classes or Schnupperkurse presented highlights of the program and were met with enthusiasm by the audience. Adding to the fun atmosphere of the day were a Tree of Hope where guests could write down and hang up their desires, wishes and hopes, the WJ Rally Quiz about Germany and Wisma Jerman, a photo wall, free consultation on Wisma Jerman courses and exams, working, studying, Ausbildung and volunteering services in Germany, as well as a German movie screening.
Guests had ample opportunities to win interesting prizes from our generous sponsors such as TS Artotel, Kahf, Kopilaborasi, Pizza Hut, Tupperware, Carpentier Kitchen, Whiz Luxe Hotel, and Grand Darmo Suites or even vouchers for free Wisma Jerman language courses.
