CAROLINE FISCHER 2022 IN CONCERT
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Wisma Jerman and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Germany, Wisma Jerman invited highly acclaimed German pianist Caroline Fischer for a concert and a master class to Surabaya. The concert took place on the 27th of November 2022 at Balai Adika, Hotel Majapahit. More than 150 attendees came to enjoy this memorable event and witness the magic of Ms. Fischer’s fingers on the piano. The event was part of a tour by Ms. Fischer to several Asian countries (Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, and Mongolia) in 2022.
Caroline Fischer has won at least 39 awards and 16 national and international music scholarships. She has released four albums under Genuine Classics and a fifth album is currently in the works. Ms. Fischer has performed at several renown venues in the world, such as the Philharmonie Berlin, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall, and the National Theater Bangkok. Her resume includes concerts during former German Federal President Roman Herzog’s state visits to South Korea and Mongolia as well as performances at Berlin’s “Bellevue” castle for former Federal German Chancellors Helmut Kohl and Angela Merkel.
The concert in Surabaya was opened by Mr. Christopher Tjokrosetio, The Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Mike Neuber, Director of Wisma Jerman and Mr. Kahar Salamun, General Manager of Hotel Majapahit as which participated as the event partner. After the welcome words, the audience was treated to a splendid opening performance by two local artists from Surabaya – Mincie Tan, on the piano and Puteri S. Ramadhani, playing flute. To the delight of the audience, they played works of Faure (Fantaisie Op. 79 and Sicilienne Op. 78) and Poulenc (Cantilena (2nd movt.).
The opening act was followed by Caroline Fischer who had divided her program into two sessions. The first part featured, works of Beethoven (Klaviersonate Nr. 23 in f-Moll op. 57 “Appassionata”) and Rachmaninoff (Prélude op. 3 Nr. 2 cis-Moll and Polichinelle fis-Moll op. 3 Nr. 4). After a short break during which Ms. Fischer changed outfits, she continued with works of Chopin (Fantaisie-Impromptu op. 66 cis-Moll) and Liszt (Liebestraum Nr. 3, Ungarische Rhapsodie Nr. 13 a-Moll, Ungarische Rhapsodie Nr. 2 cis-Moll, and La Campanella). To the excitement of the audience who stood up after the last piece of the official program, Ms. Fischers played an additional three pieces including a rendition of “Silent Night”.
On the following day, Caroline Fischer offered a master class for advanced piano players at Ruang Halle, Wisma Jerman from 11.00 – 17.00. The master class was attended by seven students who aimed to improve their playing with the help of Caroline Fischer.
