Sore, Wisjer!: 45 Menit bersama dengan Mike Neuber

Sore, WisJer! returns this year once again hosting cozy talks with a number of interesting guests. Under the concept “45 Minutes with ….” we will have the opportunity to get to know the guests and their backgrounds more closely. Our first guest in the April edition of Sore, WisJer! was Mr. Mike Neuber, the Managing Director of Wisma Jerman.

Our afternoon talk began with a short account on how Mike learned about Indonesia during his studies in Germany and how this eventually brought him to Indonesia and to learn Bahasa Indonesia. Mike who has been learning the Indonesian language since 2008 told the audience he is happy to be living in Indonesia. His statement is proven by the length of time he has been living and working in Indonesia. Before becoming the Managing Director of Wisma Jerman, Mike worked as a Market Research & Development Advisor in the Business Development Department of the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID).

Based on his experience, Mike thinks there is still a lot of room for enhancing the cooperation between Germany and Indonesia and both countries can still learn a lot from each other, both in the economic as well as in the cultural sector. As examples for potential fields of increased cooperation, Mike mentioned environmentally friendly industries as well as vocational education like Ausbildung.

Mike also explained that Wisma Jerman as an institution covers three pillars namely, language, economy, and culture and as such is committed to building bridges to build mutual understanding.
