“Return of the Bundesliga: Why, How and What are the Implications of it?”

In mid-May, the Bundesliga became the first European soccer league to continue its operation after the initial break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While other big European leagues like the French Ligue 1 and the Dutch Eredivisie were still on hold, the Bundesliga resumed operations as the first of its kind in Europe. Matches were to take place without audiences and under strict health protocols. The bold move served as an example to other soccer federations like the English Premier League and the Serie A in Italy, which in turn decided to resume operations from June on.
