Wisma Jerman held the 2nd Sharing Session about Life of Muslims in Germany

For the second time already, in July 2018, Goethe Institut, a German cultural institution with close ties to the state, sponsored fourteen Indonesians consisting of academics, researchers and journalists to join a two-week study program in Germany. The group had the chance to travel through the country and meet Muslim communities and organizations as well as to visit universities and institutions related to Islam. The aim of the program was to provide insight into the daily life of Muslims in Germany and to shed light on their long history and influence in German society.
Wisma Jerman invited two of those 14 participants for its event Sharing Session 2: Life of Muslims in Germany held on May 9, 2019 in Wisma Jerman, to share their experience and insight with the audience. Following Ms. Ita Fajria – Head of a Health Center in Pesantren Nazhatut Thullab Sampang, who specifically explained about the mosque community and Islamic organizations in Berlin and Göttingen, Mr. Luhung Achmad Perguna – sociology lecturer in State University of Malang, highlighted some Islamic studies and universities in Germany and his impression of the trip.
As many as 59 guests participated in the event. They were thrilled to hear the presentations and expressed their curiosity actively during the Q&A session. At the end of the event a quiz was held about the material that had been delivered by the speakers. 10 lucky participants who successfully answered the questions received a merchandise bundle each from Wisma Jerman. The event ended with a joint breakfasting where all the participants enjoyed a splendid meal consisting of food usually consumed by Muslims in Germany during the holy month of Ramadan.
